Default QF974 Squawks 7700

QF974 737-80 Brisbane Townsville declared an emergency

now at 11525 ft near Gladstone

seemed to have done a quick descent 3500ft min

Just saw on the 7 news a story about a Qantas A380 in LAX that had to be towed back to the gate due to ground steering issues, with the passengers, shock horror having to wait a full 30 minutes for the tug to get them safely back to the gate!

Oddly here is an incident far more serious (though I still don't think 6pm news worthy) that didn't get a mention.

Heard a passenger interviewed on the local ABC station here in Brisbane and he could not speak highly enough of the crew and his fellow passengers for remaining so calm despite the deployment of oxygen masks which was no doubt rather confronting for some of the passengers.

Well done to the crew.
