VBY entered the Worland's paint hangers here in Townsville this morning. Unfortunately I was not able to get a last ever pic of VBY in this great livery....

It seems YIA, YIB and YID are heavily used on Virgin's international short haul destinations such as DPS and HKT. Are these aircraft configured any differently to others in the fleet? It's not just that they're in the new livery as aircraft in the YF* block don't work these sectors. VUY gets its fair share too in addition to the 'Airline of Virgin Blue' liveries such as VUG.

Because they are equipped with life-rafts, they are an international config. But they operate on domestic as well...

Hi Alex,

As mentioned in another thread within these forums, YI* aircraft are internationally configured (hence the I). I believe these aircraft have life rafts and signalling equipment and other numerous safety equipment the rest of the fleet don't have. VUY, VUZ and VUE also have these features.

Many thanks, Jayden & James. Knew there'd be some explanation!

Some deliveries have been out of order - as VH-YFH & VH-YFK are in operation.

thanks.

G'day...

Just flew on VUS & VBK from SYD-BNE-HTI.

Then YVA & VUX from HTI-BNE-SYD.

VBK looked very old fashioned after stepping out of VUS which has the nice new seats right through.

YVA - what a beautiful aeroplane! But what a contrast to the very beautiful VUX (and only about a year apart in age) all because of the sky interior's overhead lockers, wall panels and purple lighting.

I did not see how Boeing could make a 737 interior look and feel more spacious but it has certainly been achieved.

The new seats on VUS VUX & YVA are very comfortable. I could easily do a long trip on those.

Regards,

Steve S

It's happened...Virgin-ia Blue is being repainted into the new livery and renamed to "Kingston Beach."
