Qantas B787 Order Changes?
Hi all,
Has QF further changed B787 numbers? On page 21 of the investor info it lists only 25 on order? http://www.asx.com.au/asxpdf/2009112...9drs40tf76.pdf Also of note QF has ordered an additional A332 for JQ DUE IN 2011. This is in addition to the 4x leased ones already announced. (Page 13) http://www.asx.com.au/asxpdf/2009112...9drs40tf76.pdf Interesting reading Last edited by Brad Myer; 25th November 2009 at 04:50 PM. |

I've heard that the first 3 787s have been cancelled which would explain the drop in deliveries

I think it is also interesting to see Qantas will only get 9 B738 in the next 2 financial years leaving 11 B738 undelivered by 30 June 2012 and 8 A380 undelivered by the end of 30 June 2012. I just wondering whether such a slow rate of plane delivery will adversely affect the fleet renewal programme where the old B744 and B763 will remain in the fleet at least until perhaps 2014 or even worse 2015 where commuters will still need to suffer from old plane and possible service delivery problems due to increased problems of those old planes.

I'm happy flying the 763, and the 744. The 787 is more efficient but seating will ultimately never be comfortable in Economy, no matter how much you wish for it.

Interesting article, but unless I am mistaken the only two changes are lower aircraft numbers and the fact that the 787-8's (interesting the article calls them -800's) will now go direct to Qantas rather than via Jetstar as orginaly planned.
So at the end of the day the net result is the same. Qantas gets 787-8's for domestic routes and Jetstar gets the larger 787-9's for international. The difference is Jetstar gets their aicraft later and Qantas gets theirs direct. |

Quote:
The original order was for: 45 firm orders, 20 options and 50 purchase rights so I guess it should be a 25/20 split. To support this I reckon the Qantas Fleet Renewal slide only consists of Qantas tails and therefore excludes Jetstar |
