This morning I received a phone call from Mr Ams asking about technical requirements for ETOPS and how hard it is to work on a APU. I said well it is a shonky scarebus you are flying so its any body's guess. At the time he already had a 2 hour delay as the Engineers had replaced a ignition cable on the APU and did not resolve the problem. I then told him to expect at least another 2 hour delay if not more due to needing to fix the fault and ETOPS requirements.

I'm more worried about what he's going to catch while he's overseas....
I was there in person to cover the departure. Photos to follow. I could hear Mr. Ams whining from the beach carpark as he departed (or that could have been the Scarebusses engines, not sure). Thanks for the heads up!!

I wonder what actually caused Mr Ams to whine more...
a) Flying out on a scarebus? b) Driving to the airport knowing you're about to fly on a scarebus? c) Knowing you're about to fly on a scarbus that had just been fixed? d) The consequences of $15 Guangzhou food voucher?

Well, when he rang me he wanted to know if he was on a 10 hour flight with the problem all solved, or was on a 15 hour flight with tech stops in Darwin and KL along the way.
I believe the Guangzhou food voucher expired in 9 hours. |
