Yes - they had a VIP dinner at the Museum last night. I believe Alan Joyce and the Governor General were there. It was VIP flight direct from SYD. It left Sydney around 11 yesterday and was due back in SYD around 4pm.

And a very pleasant evening it was too! Highlight of the evening was the unveiling of a full size replica DH50 christened by the GG.

Glad you enjoyed Longreach Steve - by the way, painting is now safely in Melbourne

Here is a picture of the DH50 replica, which they were moving into the museum on Wednesday

Here are a couple of photos from last night: The GG struggling to break the champagne bottle over DH50 "Iris" ably abetted by Michael Caton and a general view of the new replica aircraft being revealed to the assembld masses.

Adam, pleased the painting made it safely to Melbourne - Enjoy.

Did anyone manage to see how old VH-EBQ is doing out at Longreach? When I last saw her, the paintwork, especially on the tail was getting quite faded.

Dave,

She's not doing very well at all. Here's a shot of the tail showing the oxidisation of the paint. Apparently Qantas has provided money to fix up the tail and wanted it done for the 90th birthday bash but with everything else happening the museum just couldn't get it done in time.

Thank you Steve. It's a bit sad, but good to know she will be fixed up sometime soon.
