Travel Tip: Stansted to London train

Hi there

Just a travel tip for anyone arriving on Air Asia from KUL and using the train to London Liverpool Street.

The current single ticket is £21.00 (A$33.35) from Stansted Airport to London.
Don't ever pay this fare, you are being done over. (as is everyone else arriving into STN)

You need to split your tickets.
Stansted Airport to Harlow Town £6.80 Valid any Train
Harlow Town to London Liverpool St £10.90 Valid any Train
saving £3.40, enough for an extra pint

The only stipulation is that your train must call at Harlow Town, every other Stansted Express does, so a 30 min frequency instead of 15.

Buy you tickets from any of the UK train operating companies websites. (DO NOT USE THE TRAINLINE SITE) and specify Stansted Airport ticket machine as your pick up point for your tickets.

Totally legit according to the National Rail Conditions of Carriage.

Thanks for the info Anthony, I was just looking this up the other night. I'll take your advice and save a few p. Although this all relies on whether or not I will still have the use of my legs after MEL -> STN on Air Asia.
