yes but while this is the case I think there were some possible deficiencies in the overall system that the ATSB would like to explore, in particular how the damage was not noticed during the post occurrence inspection and how the damage was detected following a suspected bird strike event. The fact that the ATSB is looking to review the arrangements between the aircraft operator and maintenance organisation as part of the investigation is a sign that they want to look at contractor management and oversight. Also it's worth asking the question - had the suspected birdstrike event not occur - whether the damage would have been noticed and how many further cycles the aircraft would have flown.

Virgin Tech has taken over from TOLL as the maintenance contractor I believe..
