Default Cross LA Domestic Flights: Long Beach-Burbank

JetBlue have two flights this Saturday between Long Beach and Burbank in Greater LA due to the 405 Freeway closure. At 40 miles (64km) would this be one of the shortest scheduled domestic flights in the world?

The problem is that many people uses the freeway to get to the airport. So even though the flight is a great idea, its purposes is defected if passengers are stuck in a jam getting to/from the airport.

Oops. I misread the article. Thought the flight was departing from LAX.

Maybe 'one of' but the shortest (apparently) is flown by Loganair of Scotland

Schedule shows a block time of 5 mins. Apparently 3 of those is taxiing!

Does JetBlue normally fly out of Long Beach? And are other airlines doing it or has JetBlue thought outside the square on this one?

Yeah JB are pretty big out of Long Beach, they dont have many flights out of LAX but have them a fair few out of LGB.

Free Publicity will pay the bills on this one!

That would be so much fun! The publicity alone would pay off in spades. Great to hear such a unique solution!

I've read about it ages ago, can't find the reference, though was there ever a similar flight decades ago with Eastern Airlines flying between SFO and Oakland Airport, as a means to 'cross town'?
