And QPD the A330-300 will carry the overload as QF52 Mumbai-Dehli-Singapore-with connections to Brisbane and Perth. Early departure 0600 on the 15th from Mumbai & 1010 departure from Dehli. Extra cargo allowance to cater for all the gold medals! Well done to all the athletes!

QF6030 diverted to Canberra and landed a few minutes ago possibly due to the wind n Sydney. My trusty sidekick saw it on finals about 5mins ago.

Hi All,

QF6030 has departed Canberra and is no onroute to SYD.
Currently NE of Goulburn at 20000 ft.

At the same time JQ761 Adel-SYD (VH-VQS) had to perform 2 x 360 circuits over Goulburn to enable QF6030 to Climb and to maintain separation from the B744.

Are the cabin crew who operate these special charters usually very senior?

The winds were forecast on the TAF to be 30+kts from the west from 1800z

So why didn't they carry the holding fuel?

Theres a few answers to that question Radi, but the first must be...

What time did the flight depart? What did the previous forecast say?

Also - What was the stipulated ATC holding fuel, compared to the actual holding that was experienced on the day?

There's plenty of reasons why a quick stop in CBR is the most prudent decision.

For Long Haul, crew can nominate to be a pool for charters. There is a separate pool for Antarctic flights.

I do not know if the crew for this flight came from the charter pool or were call outs. A friend of mine was called out for it on an Available day. I do not know if it was due to sickness or the whole crew was callouts.
