I was one the unlucky ones Lucas that travelled interstate, made it down from Sydney. As soon as the rain hit this morning , drove back to Sydney, did not want to get the camera out today. Just got back 2 hours ago. Great photos gentlemen , thanks for sharing.
I did notice the Qantas 747-300 VH-EBU "Nalanji Dreaming" without engines parked around the back of avalon as well.

The emergency vehicles were a tribute to all the emergency services staff involved in the Victorian fires last month, there were probably around 30-40 vehicles in the parade. In the air at the same time they had the water bombers, one fixed wing (Air Tractor AT-802 VH-DBQ) and three helicopters (Sikorsky S-61N C-FMAY, Bell 212 VH-JJY & Erickson Air-Crane S-64F N179AC, each doing a water dump one after the other, Elvis won hands down.
The programme also had a tribute to the two aerobatic pilots who lost their life in recent tragic accidents, Tom Moon at Temora and Pip Borrman in Shepparton.

I travelled down there for Saturday. You kind of forget the rain and mud when you're surrounded by all those beautiful aircraft. I sheltered under the right wing of the A380 for about 45mins at one point, that was quite a peaceful moment just being protected from the elements by a wing that size.
Anyway, a few of my favourite shots from Saturday: You can see the full gallery here: Avalon Airshow photo gallery |

Hi Grahame, I got the impression that the bar was in between the 2 doors and would be wasted space anyway? Obviously this doesnt seem the case! Given they probably aren't even filling their planes, I reckon it will stay for a while. |

It is between L2 and R2 which would be used as 'galley/wasted' space as you suggest.
