Default Changes to Qantas Trans-Tasman Schedule

Sydney-Christchurch

767-300 services cease with effect end April 2010. A new daily 737-800 service will commence Saturday 1 May.

SYD/CHC 0715L/1220L QF45 73H
CHC/SYD 1325L/1450L QF46 73H

Sydney-Auckland

Removal of all 767-300 flying, and introduction of further 737-800 services with effect Saturday 1 May.

SYD/AKL 0925L/1430L QF55 73H
AKL/SYD 1545L/1725L QF56 73H

SYD/AKL 1820L/2325L QF49 73H
AKL/SYD 0615L/0755L QF50 73H

So no more 767's on the tasman runs anymore. The have nearly stopped all international routes for the 767's not many left I can think of just MNL and PER-NRT.

Can't say I'm surprised we see QF go from widebody to narrowbody given how much Air NZ has pushed its success with A320s on the Tasman. Last week Air NZ said demand was down 2.9% and it cut 10.5% of capacity on Tasman routes.

I wonder though if this is temporary or permanent (medium/long-term, at least).

I can remember QF45/46 was a 747 as well. One day back in the 1980's in CHC we had 3 QF 747's all on the ground together one was at the freight park while the other 2 were at the terminal I wished I had my camera with me that day. I will always remember it.
