The big question is.... who will step in and service these routes?

Whoever it is will be able to charge top dollar for their services.

Thanks for that. Dili doesn't come up as a destination when using the Awards Booking function on the QF website. Can it only be done via phone booking (hence the 2,500 point booking fee)?

Yup, that's correct - only via telephone

Back from Avalon and just catching up...

Just some clarification of some mis-conceptions on this and other sites...

* Regardless of SAW's current status, the deal between SAW and Lion had been put on hold more than a year ago following the closure of Adam Air. Lion determined that it needed all of its aircraft to service the routes vacated by Adam and would delay its Australian aspirations.

* The Timor Air deal was also going to be delayed by several months because of certification and other governance delays in the system at the Timor end. SAW was going to provide the aircraft and crews to Timor Air, but Timor Air was going to set up the Dili end of things, run all the bookings, and meet all the necessary government requirements.

It's a shame SAW has fallen over - the CEO had some grand plans, some good people working for him, and in the 190, the right jet, but it appears the timing was all wrong.
