For those interested in a bit more detail of the Dreamliner cockpit (enlarged quite a bit and the focus varies towards the top of the mail panel).

The bottom section of this panel is for the test aircraft only.

Comms and transponder have small numeric keypad for frequency input.

The left and right mouse pads can be seen either side of the throttles.

All the items on the left of the display are the fuses which are manipulated electronically (they no loger physically exist on the overhead panel).

Same additional detail for the new B737-838 VH-VZT (all enlarged from single cockpit image).

Thanks to your tips guys I took the kids for a drive and saw N707JT on approach to MEL runway 34 Saturday. Driving back, saw him parked in front of the JHAS shed so went in for a closer look. Apologies for the obstructions esp fence - camera is weather resistant but lens is not so stayed in the car...

After reading this story I feel really lucky to have sat in the left seat during ZA001's visit to Sydney.

Seems all to early to put her away.

From Puget Sound ....

The first Boeing 787 to fly ZA001 is being flown to Palmdale,
California It will be pulled out of service and stored until
its final fate is determined.
The first 787 to fly back on December 15, 2009, ZA001
has served as the workhorse of the flight test fleet with
518 flights and more than 1,326 hours according to
Boeing (not including the current flight). The airplane
has been all around the world and just returned from
Australia last month
After arriving in Palmdale, ZA001 will have its Rolls Royce
engines removed and it will be placed in storage. Palmdale
is a home to a Boeing flight test facility. The desert climate
is ideal for long term aircraft storage ZA001 is expected to
eventually make its way to a museum. A likely final parking
spot is at the Museum of Flight at Boeing Field in Seattle
where Boeing’s flight test group is based and ZA001 spent
much of its life.

Default 787

Yes agree it seems a bit early to retire the aircraft.

I think the prototype 747 was used as a test bed for many years.

I also thought the prototype 737 was used by NASA once Boeing had finished with it.

Hi all

The Qantas Australian Way magazine had an interesting article regarding the 787 and the delivery process of the 737-800's to Qantas.

It may be of interest to some.

The link is here http://travelinsider.qantas.com.au/7...:flash-random3

Dreamliner ZA003 will be visiting Singapore on Feb 11-18 as part of the SE Asia Dreamtour, demonstrating the aircraft to Singapore Airlines. It will also be on display at the Singapore Airshow.
