Saw OJR in the hangar in Sydney with the number 4 engine off today upon my international transfer between terminals. Furthermore, saw OJC and OJE also in for maintenance.

Why was VH-OJR sold so early compared to other Qantas 747's? This was the last of the 18th aircraft of the first order of 747's but the second to go out of the group of 18. Is it because of the hard landing in Sydney this aircraft once had?

Anthony, I believe OJR left because the lease was up and not renewed. This aircraft was sold and leased back many years ago and thus it left when the lease expired.

I think it had something to do with total hours versus cycles, which is why OJA/B/C/D/E are not going just yet.
