Media outlets raised the possibility this week that Qantas could have been considering a merger or regional alliance with Singapore after the two heads were seen talking at a recent conference.

“I said hello to the Chief Executive of Singapore Airlines at the International Air Transport Association (IATA) annual meeting and had not seen him for 12 months before that,” said Mr Dixon to The Australian.

“We have not had any discussion with Singapore Airlines on any issue involving the two companies... for three years.”

He also adds, “I do not know where it (the rumour) has come from.”

Qantas and Singapore Airlines have traditionally been bitter rivals, with even their subsidiaries Jetstar and Tiger often at each other’s throats.
Well, speculation end. I for one am happy, absolutely no desire to see the flying kangaroo merge with Singapore air.
