The article seem to imply the crew forgot to lower the gear..... hard to imagine that would be the case.

According to the second link above the last wheels up landing by a USAF aircraft was May 2006. A B1-B bellied in at Diego Garcia after the crew failed to perform the prelanding checklist, ignored various warning lights, and switched off the alarm horn.

Be interesting to hear the CVR from that one!
