Default Jetstar unveils next generation cabin for its Airbus A321neo

Jetstar unveils next generation cabin for its Airbus A321neo

Sydney, Friday 1 November 2019 ─ Jetstar has unveiled what customers onboard its next-generation Airbus A321neo (LR) aircraft can expect when it arrives in August next year.

Jetstar will be the first airline in Australia and the Pacific to operate the A321 LR which will be the most fuel-efficient aircraft in the Jetstar Group fleet, keeping airfares low.

The longer range, more fuel efficient, quieter Jetstar A321 LR will seat 232 passengers in a single class cabin that lifts the bar on comfort for low fares travellers in Australia.

Unveiling the cabin interior in Sydney today, Jetstar Group CEO Gareth Evans said the aircraft will offer passengers greater comfort while making more travel affordable.

“With 15 per cent fuel saving, our new NEOs have been designed to offer maximum comfort for the lowest fares,” says Mr Evans.

“Combining a smaller environmental footprint together with wider, ergonomic seats, greater stowage and in-flight streaming for personal devices, we think customers are going to love them.”

Key cabin features include:

Award-winning ergonomic Recaro seats with tapered arm rests to maximise space.
Extra-large overhead bins with 40 per cent more room to stow bags.
Digital streaming giving passengers the ability to access Jetstar’s in-flight entertainment featuring new release movies, TV shows and games on their personal devices.
Flip-down smartphone and tablet cradles as well as in-seat USB power.
Colour LED lighting that adjusts to the different stages of flight, supporting the transition through various stages of flight.

More technologically advanced, with a lower environmental footprint:

The A321 LR is the most technically advanced single aisle aircraft to join the Jetstar fleet and is equipped with the CFM LEAP engine which reduces fuel burn by approximately 15 per cent and aircraft noise footprint by 50 per cent.

“Importantly, our A321 LR burns significantly less fuel than previous generation aircraft and together with advanced weather detection technology, our pilots are able to plot smoother and more fuel-efficient flight paths,” said Mr Evans.

“We expect our NEOs to save one point two million kilograms of fuel per year compared with our current generation aircraft. That’s a reduction of almost 4,000 tonnes of emissions or removing 1,500 cars from the road each year.

“To further minimise fuel burn, our NEOs will be painted using a new weight-saving technique and will operate with lightweight galley carts and freight containers, removing 170kg from each flight.

“These technologies and innovations are part of our commitment to further reduce the impact of our flying.”
