Default QF Announce B763 Upgrade

Hi,

http://www.qantas.com.au/travel/airl...5438/global/en

Apparently 7 B763s will be retired (I assume the 7 ex BA RR ones) and the remaining 16 B763s will all be upgraded.

Unless they also replace the old-style overhead lockers, these planes are still going to look 20 years old on the inside...

Looks great!

Wonder if they will paint them while at it, as they really need it?

They let themselves slip over recent years, great to see them take some initiative... well forced initiative anyway.

Maybe to frequent travelers, not to Joe Public.

Cheers

Talk about flogging a dead horse.....

Another cog in the Joyce machine to kill Qantas.

From October this year, we will fast-track the upgrade of our domestic Boeing 767 aircraft with fresh interiors. I have no doubt customers will be delighted, as they are with our refurbished 747s.

Sixteen of our 22 domestic 767s will be upgraded, with the first to be completed this October. Our iPad/Q Streaming initiative is also being rolled out to all domestic 767s.

The total capital expenditure on these two initiatives will be approximately $20 million.

The remaining 767s are progressively being retired, and all 767s are scheduled to retire by the end of 2015.
A lot of money to be spending for only a three year investment....

The 'upgrade' consists of new seat covers and curtains plus a wireless IFE system. The seat covers and curtains are minor and could be used elsewhere on similar seats and the IFE could easily be moved to the A330's that will come back to Qantas when Jetstar get the 787-8's.

But seriously doubt all 22 of the 767's will be gone by 2015. Maybe the 7 or so that are missing out on the 'upgrade' (presumably the -336's)

PS I know your an admin but when quoting don't you think you should provide a link, or at the very least the name of your quote source?
