Maybe Sydneys 2nd airport won't get fog bound.

Not within the Sydney Basin.

Installation of touchdown zone lighting at both ends of 16R/34L and high intensity approach lighting on the 34L end will begin soon. That should hopefully lower the number of diversions when it's completed.

Thanks Nigel.

So does this mean some lights in the water?

Todd.

Having successfully handling a handful of diversions the Canberra media has been blowing the Capitals trumpet as a realistic option as Sydney's second airport.

Cheers

G'day Todd,

It won't be the full 900m long approach lighting system like at the 16R end and I understand there'll be an elevated platform/s extending from the top of the existing ground out to about where the rocks meet the water. I'd imagine having poles in the water would cause all sorts of grief for maintenance and general boat navigation in the area, especially during fog!

How's the Ninja?

Cheers
Nigel
