Pretty sure its 40mins.
And can anyone tell me anything about QF6602 that appears on webtrak at 850pm. Does an unusual approach and its route says ZQN-SYD? Anyone know where that is and why its approach seems unusual? Cheers Gerard

Gerard,
QF6602 was a Qantas Pathfinders Charity flight which raises money for the Royal Institute for Deaf and Blind Children at North Rocks. It flew from Sydney to Queenstown New Zealand this morning with a full load, leaving from Gate 25 as QF6601. Pushback was at 6.45am. It seems they had a slightly more scenic track off the beaches of Sydney heading out in the morning. They appear on webtrack at about 7am. I sent a couple of friends on the flight as a birthday present. The day included return flight (hot breakfast served on the way over and hot dinner on the way back), time in the town, a trip across the lake in an old steamer for lunch at a restaurant on the shores of the lake, return to Queenstown and ride in the gondola to the lookout overlooking the town. The texts and pics I received from my friends indicated it was a terrific day. I haven't had a chance to talk with them since they got back this evening. It looks like they were given a scenic flight over Sydney as part of the fun when they came back. Everything was donated by Qantas, Sydney Airport, Shell etc etc. Last edited by Steve Crook; 24th October 2009 at 11:56 PM. |

Hi Steve, if you don't mind me asking, what did a ticket for that trip cost? What a great idea, especially for a gift.
Thanks in advance, Mike |

Mike, as probably mentioned in the link, the tickets were $750 each. The Pathfinders flights have been going for some time. I was reading a book about Qantas flight attendants ("Pax, Slips & Dunlops: 65 years of Qantas in-flight services" 2003) when it mentioned that the Pathfinders Auxilliary was formed by some Qantas cabin crew in 1967 to raise money for deaf and blind children. It went on to being a major fundraising body. I'm not sure when the flights started, but now they are an annual thing. Recent flights have been to Uluru and Alice Springs. To my knowledge this was the first offshore flight. I had planned to go but a sudden vet bill put the stoppers on that.....that and the fact that this time next week will see me on a plane to Paris (TWO overseas trips in a week would just be showing off!!
