Smile Plane Spotting mini-doco and more YSSY vids

It's amazing what a little procrastinating and Youtube can combine to produce:

First time I've ever seen it before, and I noticed some of the people (past and present) members of this board are featured in it.

Love it!

I'm definitely the 'Rego and Communications' spotter. Like listening to the tower whilst watching is the best you could get! Add in flightradar24 too to see what's on it's way!

Quite embarrassed to say as well that I log every QF 747 and 380 flight and their hours in operation. Fascinated with airline scheduling

It was also nice to see Bruce "Shep" Shepherd in the video as well.

I joined the original board not too long before it closed down and this one replaced it, so I haven't been a member long enough to know Shep. But what I have found out over the time that I have been a member is that he was a very much loved member and mentor of this board, highlighted by the famous spotting location "Shep's mound" in his honour. So it was nice to see him featured in the video.

I'm not 100% sure when the video was made. It says uploaded October 2008, but judging by the 747-338s and the EVA MD11, i'm think more pre-2006? In which case, I imagine some people on this board might have a bit of a chuckle seeing a younger version of themselves

Do any of them still spot at Sydney Airport?

It seems they are long gone now

A great number of the people in the doco are still members of the board. They just don't post as often.
