Landing jetliner scrapes wing on ground
From correspndents in Tokyo | Agence France-Presse | April 22, 2009 06:11pm

ONE wing of a Japan Airlines plane scraped the runway on landing at Osaka airport today, but none of the 168 people on board were injured.
The incident happened when the McDonnell Douglas MD-81 from northwestern Niigata landed at 10:41am (1141 AEST), said airport official Susumu Nakabayashi.

"All the passengers and crew members, totalling 168 people, landed safely without injuries,'' he said.

The scrape broke a light on the wing.

The runway was closed for about an hour, with eight domestic flights cancelled and six diverted to nearby airports.

"We are investigating the cause of the accident,'' the official said.

"The weather here is clear and sunny today, and there is no report of strong winds.''

Too much in-flight Sake for the pilots. Interesting to see a wing scrape on a calm clear day. I have seen it many times on YouTube in severe crosswinds but none from a nice sunny day.
