High Flyer over Melbourne
I was driving to work at about 10AM this morning when I saw a bright vapour trail and aircraft in the sky ahead of me heading east. A quick check on Flightradar24 revealed it was the Air Asia X flight to Christchurch. I've never seen that flight over Melbourne before. When I've seen the D7 and SQ flights to CHC on Flightradar24 before they've been a lot further north, usually overflying Sydney.
The only other high flyers I regularly see down here are the NZ flights to/from Perth and Adelaide and QF 63/64. |

With the large High Pressure system in the Tasman, the reason would probably be favourable winds further south.

I noted both Emirates and Etihad inbound to Sydney tracking East well to the South of Kangaroo Island , taking advantage of the favorable Westerlies no doubt ..
