I saw it flying over me house quite low around 12:30, very quite, heading north east.

Sydney Airport website lists the flight as 'Cancelled'.

They're about to find out!
Either that or Delta have their own engineers to work on it but have leased the hangar space perhaps? I don't know who looks after Delta...Qantas? Toll? AMSA? John Holland?

Some Qantas engineers were trained on the 777 for other operators when they used to look after them. I believe that none of them would be current at the moment.
Qantas Engineering will be providing them with a hangar, assistance and equipment required to do the task, whatever it may be.

I don't know who looks after Delta normally. It is not Qantas.

Could it be possible Virgin Australia are sending a team of 777 engineers from brisbane or melbourne to fix up the 777 for Delta?

Qantas engineering handle MAS 777's in Perth

I think they look after BAW 777's aswell
