Default QF A333s, doors 3L and 3R

Hi guys,

Just saw a photo of a QF A333 and the caption made reference to doors 3L and 3R being larger then on most A333s. What is the reason for this?

Cheers

M

3L and 3R are Type A doors, in plain English this means that the door is fitted with an slide/raft as opposed to just a slide (type 1 door) which you'll find on most A330s.

Airlines have the option of getting all type A doors as it in turn allows for the overall capacity of the aircraft to be increased.

The 330-200 have type 1 doors at doors 3 and the 330-300 have type A doors on all the doors including doors 3. The Type A door also has a dual lane slide whilst the style 1 door is only a single lane slide.

Sure is Rob, the Type 1 door in a ditching seems to catch a few cabin crew out.

Thanks guys that makes sense.

Rob C, by EPs I'm presuming you mean Emergancy Procedures?

Cheers

That it does. Emirates have a funny way of evacuating out of doors 3. It is configured really awkwardly.
