Amadeus shows this up:

SQ 231 aircraft type will be EQV from 18 June to 25 June. After 25th it shows me conflicting aircraft type for the starting and ending dates.
So it may or maynot be 773. I guess they are still in the process of updating the systems.

Evening all,

Some sad news here...

Quote:
As per Sabre timetable display, as well as the airline's inventory system, Singapore Airlines' Singapore - Sydney final Boeing 747-400 service is planned for 05OCT09.

Final 747 flight on the Singapore to Sydney is SQ219 on 04OCT09, returning from Sydney the following day on SQ220

SQ219/220 is to be replaced by Boeing 777-300, with existing configuration.

Morning all,

Here is a chance for Sydney Spotters to get some SQ B772's

Quote:
As per GDS inventory display on 10JUN09, Singapore Airlines' Singapore - Sydney SQ231/232 service, sees Boeing 777-200 replacing 747-400 starting 29JUN09.

The 777-200 is operating until 14JUL09, then switches to 777-300ER as originally planned
Not sure at this stage which B772 (SV*, SQ* or SR*) block it will be operating this flight.

I booked the flight SQ 232 on 26th June. So can anyone tell me which aircraft it will operate?

I really don't want those noisy B744s to operate again. It is sooo annoying that you will not have a proper/modern AVOD system and you still have to sit in an aircraft which is noisy and you can't sleep.

A quick search of the SQ website reveals SQ232 is op'd by a 744 on the date you're flying.

As for your comment RE: "proper/modern AVOD system", you're kidding me right? Out of the 20+ flights on SQ 744's I've only ever experienced an issue with the AVOD once.

And as for not being able to sleep, take a sleeping pill or equivalent before your flight if you're worried about sleeping during the middle of the day

On the side my HKG-MNL on CX last Wednesday (777-300) the IFE in my seat would produce any sound. The purser re-booted it (the Linux duck was running for about 10 minutes)

Still no sound, so the Purser apologised and gave me US$25.00 voucher to use on duty free on any CX flight

Can’t complain

1. Out of 3 SQ B744 services I've taken, 1 of them has AVOD not working and they have to refund me US$50.

2. I just wonder how come SQ still put those planes with old AVOD system (I mean the modern ones = those on B77W, even those on A380 are not good enough as those on B77W) to serve such a high profile route.

3. Even it is in the middle of the day, I would still want a flight to relax, not to suffer from the huge noise from the engines. Furthermore, I've taken SQ B744s which made me feel severely headache upon landing.
