Default PMDG 747-400X - any good?

I see one of the latest aviation magazines is running a favourable review of the new PMDG 747-400X (for FSX), to the effect that it's the best add-on aeroplane ever released for FS.

Has anyone here used it? I was always a big fan of PS1 (which was just incredibly thorough), but found that the Flightsim equivalents usually fell way, way short in everything but the visuals. Is 744X approaching the PS1 level of systems and autoflight modelling?

Is it worth buying?

I own the Flight One Level D 767, The PMDG Beechcraft 1900D, PMDG 737NG, Just Flight DC-10 Collection, and PMDG 747-400X. All are fantastic but the 747 is awesome. As far as reality goes the Level D 767 is the best. As long as your not one of those lazy gamers who uses the "GPS" then you'll be ok. You need to be able to navigate using the FMC.

I don't think that will be a problem.

Hey Will,

People say that the PMDG744 is super realistic, I can't elaborate on that because I haven't got the knowledge on the 744...

However! The PMDG737 is ub3r-realistic! To the point that nearly every figure you'll take out of the FCOM is matched in this aircraft on flight sim. The autoflight modes are exactly the same, even when you hit the TO/GA for a go-around in a dual channel or single channel app etc. is unbelievable!!

Now put this into perspective, the PMDG737 was made yonks before the PMDG744 was even a twinkle in the developers eyes

It's worth buying.

Will...you don't need to buy it!

anyway, I've been using the PMDG for a while now and its a great addition to any FS...just wish they would hurry up with their MD11.

if you installed the 744 before the 738 it won't work..you need to remove the 744 and re-install after installing the 738.
