Default 747-8

Does anyone know when/how often the 747-8 flys in and out of Sydney?

I'm pretty sure Lufthansa operate a cargo -8 but I'm not entirely sure. I would really like to get some pictures of this aircraft but as there aren't many in service I'm struggling to catch one.

Hi Tara,
The only B748 operator into Sydney is Cathay Pacific Cargo. Im sure someone else will be able to give you the exact days they fly in..

Cheers

Hi Tara

LH has the pax version and does not fly to Oz. Air China and Korean are due to take the pax version soon too apparently.

The only -8 that 'regularly' sees SYD is Cathay's freighters and even then I'm not sure they're particularly regular. The PDF timetable on Cathay's website has their freighter schedule and I guess flightaware would show whether a specific day was a -400 or a -8.

Thank you for the response, yeah I thought it was a cargo operator that I had seen in the past. I couldn't remember if it was Cathay pacific or Lufthansa, I clearly guessed the wrong one.

I think you're right there it doesn't seem like they are a regular occurrence and are mixed up with the 744. I'll check Cathay Pacifics site for more details.

I'm pretty sure that it's a daily (or at least 5x weekly 748 service for Cathay, pretty rare to see a 744

I think CX Cargo are twice a week into SYD. Monday and Tuesday HKG-SYD-MEL-HKG? Could be wrong though. CX22/23 are the flight numbers i think.

From www.16Right ADS-B it looks like CX22 only operates on a Tuesday

Hi Tara,
The Monday service arrives as CX29 into Sydney during the mid morning.
It then departs to Melbourne as CX28 around lunchtime.

The Tuesday service arrives as CX23 into Sydney, then departs around
lunchtime to Melbourne as CX22.

They have been using the B747-8 for quite a while now.

Hope this helps.
