Default Atlas Freighter at Gate 35?

This might be a stupid question but I'll ask anyway. There is an Atlas Freighter (at Gate 35 I believe), which is one of the passenger gates. Any idea why this would be the case? I have never seen it before so it is interesting.

I'm not at work at the moment (I was this morning). It may be the Atlas 747 is actually on Bay 37.

Bay's 36 and 37 currently have no airbridges but as of this morning we can use them as stand-off bays till the aircrafts regular bay becomes available.

Regards.

Thanks Paul - I think you are right, one gate over. It would make sense as a FedEx MD11 has been over in the GA area all today, so the freight apron must be pretty busy.

The whole airport has been busy and spare aircraft bays are hard to come by. The apron coordinators have their work cut out for them at the moment.

I saw three Atlas 747s when we arrived back from AKL on Tuesday night, one was at a passenger gate. My wife's only comment was "they need a new paint job"

For our flight out of Sydney on the 21st, we had to ride a bus out to the LAN A340 parked over by the cargo area.. At least it gave me a good view of some of the planes.

Thanks for the info Nigel. Matt, if you find an Atlas Air that doesn't need a new paint job it is an achievement
