Iberia Airlines A340-300 Blows Engine On Takeoff - 30/06/10
My friend Jen, a member of my Boston Airliner Spotters group, caught the following video after an Iberia flight departing Boston for Madrid (IB 6160) blew an engine. Here is the video of the aftermath.

WTF They didn't even shut the engine down.

That was my immediate thought, they just left it running.

I would suggest they were told the engine was smoking by the tower. From the flight deck all the indications were normal. From the flight deck they would not have seen the smoke.
The engine was just burning lots of oil from a damaged seal or incorrect servicing. No real urgency to shut it down.
