Sydney weather Sun night
There were quite a few go arounds tonight with the electrical storms and rain happening. Looks like the pax and crew on QF559 from Brisbame lucked out. With the delays they were rescheduled to arrive at 11pm, right on curfew. I listened to the flight fly past my house on short finals and watched its progress on Flightradar. It ended up doing a very late go around, except it didn't come back around. Currently climbing through 26000 feet heading south towards Jervis Bay. Looks like Brisbane to Sydney via Melbourne (or Canberra?) for those folks!

Brisbane - Melbourne - Sydney for that flight. Currently overflying Canberra at 40000 feet.

This situation makes the curfew look rather silly to me. Surely it shouldn't be too difficult to create a bit of flexibility in cases like this. |

Especially considering all the heavies departed around 11.30pm

Mt Druitt had the pleasure of a China Southern 777 around 930pm last night.
Whilst heading south over the Hawkesbury River it did a lap, before heading to Mt Druitt where it did two laps at quite a low level (guessing at around 5000 ft) before heading southeast towards Bankstown and then Mascot. It would have been an even better sight had it been during the day. |
