Default SQ268 ADL-SIN diverts to Bali

Hi all,

Stumbled across this by accident, but it looks like SQ268 divered to DPS yesterday (Monday)

SQ and Changi websites have it as being via Bali.

http://twitter.com/bigjsl described it with this: "Find myself in Denpasar Bali after emergency landing. Bang, bad burnt metal smell, running hosties. #SingAir #Airbus #fail"

Lucky it wasn't QF81, would have been front page news everywhere.

It's not much, but this is from www.avherald.com

Quote:
A Singapore Airlines Airbus A330-300, registration 9V-STL performing flight SQ-268 from Adelaide,SA (Australia) to Singapore (Singapore), was enroute near Bali/Denpasar (Indonesia) when the crew needed to shut down the left hand engine (Trent 772) and diverted to Denpasar for a safe landing.

Passengers reported, that the engine emitted a huge bang.

Nothing of the usual media frenzy here in Adelaide, obviously the aircraft did not have a kangaroo on the tail.

Default Another 330?

It seems to be the second engine failure of Trent 700 series recently as far as i know. Hope it is not a problem of RR.
