Default AN-124 14-15 Jan

I was just told by a sydney airport staff member that an AN-124 will be in on the 14 Jan ( approx 1930 ) and leave early the next morning. He also said there was a IL-96 in melbourne today. I guess if thats true, the AN-124 should be likely. Thought i'd pass this on. Cheers.

If it's true, then so much for the Fed Govt's ban on so-called 'noisy' An124's.

That may be the case, but current regulations ban the An124 from Sydney from September 2010. There was a lengthy thread about it here http://yssyforum.net/board/showthrea...ighlight=An124

Hi Nigel,

Despite the ban that came in it should still be able to get in to Sydney. Someone mentioned it visited Perth not long ago where it is banned too. There are a bunch of exemptions which should allow it to come in especially the fact that nothing can really replace it. Even before the ban the An-124's could not visit Australia without special permits. Also if there was anything else that could do what the An-124 does then it could never visit Australia.

I'm sure you know this Nigel this is just incase anyone doesn't know, if this is true it should be allowed in regardless of the ban.
