Thai Airways according to their reservation system and dummy bookings from 25 October, are deploying the Boeing 787-8 on the daily Bangkok to Brisbane flights. This will replace the current Boeing 777 operation.

Default Why the QF A388 here in Brisbane

I noticed the A380 fly over my place yesterday and today(I am on shortish final for 01) Why did they relocate the 2 flights from YSSY? and refer to them as charters?

Used to only seeing the Emirates A380's here in Brisbane.

They are referred to charters because that's exactly what they are. Depending on where you where in Brisbane you may have noticed the scores of mini buses with white business shirted men and smartly dressed women getting about yesterday. Every year the same religious group charter the A380s from/to the US and UK and AFAIK you cannot get a ticket on them. They came from Sydney as that's where the A380 would have left had the regular service not been cancelled, ie QF1.

Thanks for that Mark, I live in Cannon Hill, no where near the airport arrivals area. I did wonder why, as QF1 etc is still scheduled and Just saw before QF 15 leave. Must have a lot of people to generate need for their own aircraft. I suppose, if you have the numbers to fill a A380, it would take many commercial flights to get every one to and from their destination. Must be more economical to charter.

Ummmmm Be interesting to see how they decided who gets the cheap seats!!
