Default 737-900 delivery or demonstrator

Not specifically a SYD related post but...

Hot rumour around the coffee drinkers in the DJ Head Office is that a 739 will be routing BFI-NAN-LIH-somewhere (my SAR did not go that far ahead to find out point of entry) on the 18/03 (but could be 18/04 as it showed on 2 reports)
I doubt if it is one of ours so probably a Boeing demonstrator.. If I find anything out I will let you all know ok,
Steve...

It would surely go LIH before NAN.

Backdrop for an order that was announced in September and signed in principle last month? How much publicity can be stretched out of this? Is DJ trying to compete with Akbar Al-Baker? That translates as: it's not a prop.

One option might be if Lion Air is due for a 739 delivery and Boeing/Lion Air is taking a creative routing to show the 739 off to DJ for operational, not marketing, reasons.

Will, you may be right. The reason the 739 hasn't made an appearance in the fleets of QF (and I assume DJ) until now is that the turn times take too long due to the extra pax. It could be that Boeing want to do a physical demonstration that it won't take as long as the airlines estimate it will.
