Default Qf88 - 15-17/09/09

Decided to start a new thread so i didn't get too off-topic on the last one but previously QF88 (VH-QPF A333) on the 15th was delayed after a diversion to Manila, not sure why. It was then due into Sydney last night at 6pm sometime nearly 24hrs late. However, that has been canceled and it is now only just arriving in Brisbane (presumably because they were unable to meet the curfew times?). Was there an issue with the aircraft as that's a pretty decent delay if your looking at it from a passengers point of view. Not only that they still aren't at their final destination!

Would Qantas have provided all the accommodation and meals etc for the passengers in a case like this or would they have overnighted in the airports at Manila and now in Brisbane? Depending on the passenger loads two lots of accommodation for them all would be a fair penny?

(I'm not having a go at the airline whats so ever in-case people accuse me of Qantas bashing I am simply asking a question)

HKG has had some pretty bad weather lately so this could be a reason.

It was a technical problem that affected ETOPS operation. All passengers were well taken care of!

Last week Manila airspace closed, Hong Kong had shocking weather etc. etc.

Gerard,

1. QF would have sourced hotel accommodation for affected pax in MNL and BNE. They (pax) would have been provided with meal or meals (depending on the length of delay) and permitted one phone call not exceeding "X" amount of $$$...

2. Depending on what the hotels were charging QF per room. You could be looking at anywhere between $10,000 - $60,000

Another 330 tech issue? What's going on with these things?
