Pardon my ignorance, but just out of curiosity, why do military planes such as the L1011 go to YSSY and not YSRI?

Yeap, or the cargo they are carrying is required to be moved onwards by domestic means within Australia, not military.

Two RNZAF King airs ( it looked like) arrived at YSRI yesterday and departed this morning about 0900

I understand the L1011 is returning British defence personnel to the UK after 4mths secondment in Australia. Supposedly departing Fri 15th, ETD unknown.

Looks like it has a new livery...The most recent one i saw about a year ago had the white paint job.
