If he is referring to banning the An124, then perhaps Mr Albanese needs to look at past Australian Defence Force contracts for heavy lift operations to see that the Federal Government themselves have had a requirement for these aircraft...

here is the actaul p[ress release

Government To Ban Old, Noisy Freight Jets

it lists B727-100, B727-200, Antonov AN-124, DC86

it bans them from Australia's major airports, it does not ban them from Australian airspace, so don't worry about defence, they can us Avalon, Richmond, Amberley, Darwin, Bankstown, etc, etc

An An-124 using Bankstown??? Uh huh.

When's the next Federal election? Oh, that's right...October or November 2010, just a month or so after this 'ban' comes into force. How convenient!
It looks like yet another vote buying exercise from this Govt.

If people are complaining about noisy aircraft, whats then said about people who drive their cars with their big noisy exhaust systems & "doof doof" music????

The police and their defect notices should be taking care of that noise issue....although they seem more keen on having a shot at the minority of bike riders with sports exhausts. But that's for another forum...

You MUST be talking about my neighbours!! If it isnt them, then its the visitors to lazy to get out of car and go to door and knock... Much easier to sit in the MIDDLE of the road and blast the horn!! But then again, no where NEAR as excieting as a couple of Sundays ago when 7 cars, and a dozen or so police turned up at around 3pm! Eventually, after midnight after sourcing a warrant, they seized the Blue Pajero 4WD (google it and Western Sydney, say Guildford or Merrylands for more info) for further testing...

There is also the DECCW for NSW Noise Hotline!

Back on topic, but when the 16's are in operation, there is a lot of aircraft noise above my house that then do a sweeping right hand turn to line up... I tell you what, give me a 744, 77W and even a 763 anyday over any of the Jetstar/Tiger/Air NZ A320's... They seem to scream through a high pitch noise and then dulls down to a somewhat 'normal' humm! A380 movements are not that bad either FWIW, and it maybe just the sheer volume of numbers in the 737 and A320 fleets, but they are annoying as well! Ok, its not like Drumoyne, St Peters area, but I still get a lot of noise!

Bring back all 727's!

All about politics if you ask me.
