Default Callsigns

Just wondering if there are any procedures regarding callsigns?

Ive noticed that Strategic airlines uses the callsign ASY1 and the RAAF also use this callsign.

Is it first in with the flight plan or can anyone use whatever callsign they want?

G'day Mike, im pretty sure there are several threads already but this aircraft also runs defence force charters and as such uses the ASY callsign.

Cheers

I wasn't referring to just that aircraft tho.

A couple of days ago there was 2 aircraft displaying QFA001 on planeplotter and acars had QF0001 for both.

The aircraft are unimportant tho. I was just curious as to the procedures for getting callsigns.
