Default Emirates Again !

As reported on another board :

" Emirates B777 pulled out of takeoff after emitting smoke from rear

An Emirates B777-200 bound for Dubai was grounded after the pilot spotted
smoke coming from the rear of the aircraft on Wednesday. Fight EK856 from
Kuwait International Airport scheduled for a 09:40 departure was pulled out
of its takeoff as it was taxing towards the runway due to what is believed
to have been a technical fault. The service was carrying 346 passengers, and only one passenger had received minor injuries when he panicked, left his
seat and fell down. An Emirates spokesperson commented to state media that, "Preliminary information indicates that the source of the smoke may be the engine exhaust. Investigations are ongoing to identify the cause."

Passengers were put onto another plane after their service was cancelled and another aircraft deployed out to Kuwait. "

Yes they do Brian but if it was a QANTAS jet then details would be splashed all over the newspapers and you can imagine the outcry.

So I think it's only fair and reasonable to report such incidents when they happen to other airlines so that the media "spies" or informants who trawl this site can see that even the best are not faultless.

Any specific details of how the pilot even saw the smoke? Was the aircraft turning onto the runway and the pilot saw smoke trailing behind the aircraft or what? ... because I thought that the 772's didn't have cameras on the outside of the plane..

Hahaha... that's the kind of quote you'd expect from one of the passengers onboard as he/she is interviewed by the media... much like the QF drama a few weeks ago where a passenger said 'the explosion occured on the driver's side of the plane'....
