Pilot Health Requirements/Certification
Hi,
Not sure if this is the right forum for this question(s). I have a friend of mine trying to tell me that a friend of his is a pilot for a certain airline based across the Tasman ,he flies long haul and ranks as Captain. Has been with this airline for 12 years ,prior to this lived in a foreign country ,worked in a job not involved in the aviation industry ,but held a commercial pilots licence. Also suffers a respiratory problem and takes medication for it! I would think the selection process for this would be fairly competitive and for someone to "step" into this position would be highly unlikely. Am I being a doubting Thomas ? Maybe someone could enlighten me ! |

So long as the pilot in question can pass a Class 1 medical, there's absolutely no reason they couldn't hold the position.

Depends how bad the respiratory problem is and if the medication is controlling it without causing other side affects.
