QF198 HKG-SYD 3rd August
I've just noticed an extra flight from Hong Kong to Sydney on this date. Does anyone know why there would be an extra flight just for this date? Is there a special event or charter happening?

Could just be an aircraft repositioning.

That'd be to do with QF188's move from a day flight to a night flight. I believe QF188 is operating that morning aswell, with the incoming QF187 turned around to operate QF198 that night.

128 still shows as the 744 night flight...and 188 as the day flight, which changes to flight 88 sometime int he future? |

Looks like from 3 August onwards. Departing Hong Kong at 11:20pm, arriving in Sydney at 10:30am the next day.
Guess that means there is no longer a QF connection to Sydney in HK if you're catching QF30 from LHR. |

QF188 will become a night flight for the period August 4-23. Times are HKG/SYD 2320L/1030L ops by an A333. The flight number change to QF88 will take effect October 26.
