Embraer says E195-E2 capable of operating Sydney-Bali, Darwin-Bangkok
Embraer says E195-E2 capable of operating Sydney-Bali, Darwin-Bangkok
Embraer’s new E195-E2 will be capable of flying between Sydney and Bali or Darwin to Bangkok after the manufacturer lifted the published range of the regional jet. In early June, Embraer said the E195-E2 would be capably of flying 2,600nm, an improvement from the previous figure of 2,450nm in 2016 when the company made changes to the wing and from 2,000nm at the launch of the E2 regional jet program in 2013. The improved range was based on the results of the flight test program so far. The maximum takeoff weight (MTOW) has also increased to 61,500kg, from 60,700 previously. By way of comparison, Bombardier’s CS100 has a range of 3,100nm. Range circles from Embraer provided to Australian Aviation showed the E195-E2 configured with 120 passengers would be able to fly between Sydney and Bali (2,495nm) or Sydney and Apia (2,336nm), based on certain assumptions. Nice aeroplane - if only the comparable lease prices against the 737-800 wasn't about the same it would sell well.
Embraer should continue to focus on the Fokker 100 replacement size jets; they can't be around forever. |

I wouldn't mention that to Alliance, they hope that F70/100 will last forever

More like a lack of capital given the parent has two airlines that have been struggling for years.

You can purchase a Fokker 100 for less than a B1900D. You can buy 5 F100's for the price of 1 E190 and 10-12 F100's for the price of 1 E2.
The big issue with the F100 is the engines, hence to operate 1 you need to 2 to give you access to spare engines. This is the main reason Alliance purchased so many F100/70's. There is about 5-8 years life really left in the F100/70 and by that time the price of used E170/190's will make them viable for the likes of VARA and Alliance. However they will never be true replacements for the F100/70. |
