Hi all,
At NJS we have a 1:36 ratio for FA's to Pax. Not sure if this is for all airlines, or just some. QF072 had 303 pax, and 10 crew. I'm guessing 8 FA's and 2 pilots. 303 / 8 = 37.875? Is this correct?

It's 1:36 for every Australian airline. 1:36 is set by CASA and is mandatory for all Australian carriers. In most other countries the ratio is 1:50. As for QF72 there were either fewer passengers or more crew then what was reported but there would have been no more then 36 Passengers for each Cabin Crew member.
Hope this helps Jason

That's not correct.
CAR 20.16.3 refers - for a/c under 216 pax it's 1:36, for a/c over 216 pax it's as approved by the regulator however normally at least 1 crew member per each floor level exit on board. Some high capacity airlines in Australia also have approval to operate specific aircraft types with less then 216 pax with less then the 1:36 ratio as well. |

The 303 PAX included infants which are not included in the 1:36 ratio?

I'm not sure of the exact crew to pax ratios, but at Jetstar we operate our A330-200s with a minimum of 9 cabin crew. I would imagine Qantas would crew their -300s with at least 9 as well? Surely not less than Jetstar? So the number of crew reported was probably incorrect or maybe 10 crew referred only to cabin crew?
