FlightPlan was filed as A343 not as A388, thus the confusion perhaps. I’m not 100% on rego’s but I just posted what was on the real plan.

Can I ask (roughly) where you took this photo from and what the flight level of this a/c would have been at the time?
I am near to Picton , about 33DME SW of SYD . It was and still is relatively a cloud free sky and the A380 was passing FL150 on descent on the RIVET STAR .

Does the A343 have the range to do non-stop DXB-SYD both ways, if one had to be scheduled for operational reasons?

I seem to remember that the A345, when delivered to EK, was touted as making it possible to open a non-stop Sydney service, and I thought they already had the A343s by then.

The A343X has a max payload range of 7400NM . The great circle route from SYD-DXB is 7481NM . Bearing this in mind , there would probably be a payload restriction in order to operate between SYD and DXB non stop and remain legal .
