Camden Tower
Hi all
I will be heading out to camden later this month and was wondering if their is any way to get into the tower. I'm currently a student pilot out at Bankstown and am interested in what it is like in the tower. So if anyone knows who to contact or if anyone has being in the tower before any info would be great. I understand that their may be security issues so this is why i'm asking |

Lachlan,
best bet would be to contact the tower directly via the number listed in the ERSA. If i remember correctly Camden Towers only operational on weekends so this will be a bit of a limitation. |

Lachlan, I was visited Launceston Tower last year, having arranged it through an ATC contact of mine. Despite this planning, they still weren't expecting me, but as I had an ASIC there was no issue.
Having also visited the Sydney TCU I get the impression that ATC are willing to show student pilots around, particularly as improved knowledge of the local airspace might help you avoid having a VCA. |

35 years ago I used to taxi past the tower, has it shifted since that time?

Hey Lachlan,
Over the years I've taken students up Camden, Bankstown, Coffs, Marochy, Gold Coast & Archerfield. Normally they love having pilots up there, especially student pilots who they can educate a bit on general ATC & local procedures. Most towers tend to have a liaison officer - see if you can get in touch with them (Camden is staffed by Bankstown controllers so maybe call Bankstown tower to ask) to see if you can organise it. Have fun - it's always nice being up there & seeing the other side! Adam |

thanks allot for that
i will send off an email now! I believe it will be a great experience because a career as an air traffic controller is one of my back ups if some how i can't be a pilot. |
