Warwick farm??
Hey guys.
Just cruising around on google maps the other day and dad told me to look at Warwick farm to see the remnants of the old motor racetrack. I spot on plan parked on the grass!?! IS this normal? I searched on here and found nothing and googled it but it seems to be an option to planes that have to force land from YSBK. http://maps.google.com.au/maps?f=q&s...03484&t=h&z=19 |

I'd make an educated gues that pretty much someone's put into practice an EFATO (Engine Failure After Take Off) procedure, which when you depart Runway 29 at Bankstown Airport nearby, the racecourse is pretty much your first (And only) avaliable opportunity to land the aircraft if you unfortunately have one of theses at a sufficient height.
Excellent job done by the pilot! |

I agree with Maikha, the EFATO would be the likely candidate. In our takeoff safety brief, we always state "For a 29 departure, if we have an engine failure up to 700ft, we will land straight ahead or a maximum of 45 degrees either side of the nose. If we have an engine failure above 700', we will think about turning back. A good place to put down in the event of a forced landing is Warwick Farm racecourse."
Also, in the photo on Google Maps (its also visible on Google Earth too), there seems to be a car parked fairly closeby, possibly responding to the downed a/c?
