Just a thought, since VBN has no virgin girl on her nose, it made me think she could be one of the first older 737's to be painted with the new girl/livery.

Just a thought.

Cheers

Jack

Ok so a quick google search for Virgin Blue latest news came up with two interesting things...

1- Virgin Blue will 'rationalise' its brands, not exactly having only one, but bringing domestic more inline with international brands

2- Virgin Blue will soon fly to Hawaii, and after that, Asia.

Very interesting......

Not sure about number 2 there Cam (which website did you get that info from). Reason being is a 737 wouldn't have the range to go non stop (if they were to use 737's, where would they stop over), V Australia's 777-300ER's are already busy with AUH & LAX & finally, Virgin Blue only have 1 A330-200 with a second one due soon to which they will be used on the Perth routes.
I would like to see it happen but at this stage, I could only see it being possible with an alliance with Hawaiian. Maybe someone more in the know can confirm this??

virgin are not flying to Hawaii. They dont have the aircraft. They are just going to codeshare with Hawaiian which does not mean much. Especially given the high fares on this route compared to jetstar.

My money's on V Australia for international flying and Virgin Australia for domestic.

Virgin is looking to codeshare with Hawaiian, not serve the route directly (or at least not at this time).

I think the 737-700s will be withdrawn as their leases end.

If the codeshare extends to HNL-mainland USA routes, could this be a plan to create a virtual hub similar to AUH, as a contingency if the Delta approval falls through, or as an addition?

The application with Delta should go through as there are enough carriers in the AUS-USA market. Hard to see why it would be declined. The move with Haiwaiian is probably intended to extend their virtual 'global' network and reach whilst targeting Qantas

Air New Zealand plots new joint schedule with Virgin Blue, new destinations in Australia
http://www.ausbt.com.au/air-new-zeal...s-in-australia

Rob Fyfe on Rotorua's transtasman link
"We have an agreement to set up a joint venture with Virgin Blue from July 1. That will feed more traffic from the Australian domestic services into our New Zealand flights.
The Virgin deal will allow Australians to book Air New Zealand flights through the Virgin Blue website, increasing Air New Zealand's distribution network.
