B-1 Lancers to be deployed to Northern Teritory.
USAF B-1 bombers will deploy to Australia apart of the Pacific shift from the U.S. Goverment.

Well the rumor has been around for a long time now, goverment is just trying to save face as they haven't announced it yet. And B-52's are rotating through The Northern Teritory even as late as a couple weeks ago so it's going on we just don't hear about it.

B52s have been exercising in the N T since the early 80s afaik. In fact in 1981 or 82, I was flying to a remote community in the western N T when the pilot said to me "have a look out the window". There was a B52 some distance away belting along well below us and it was a sight I'll never forget. |

I would love to have a few B-1's in Darwin.
Avalon Airshow had one a few years ago, and it was the loudest plane I have heard for a long time. Great stuff. |
