Seen Sully ?
What do you think ? Unlike most Hollywood blockbusters "Sully" follows the original story of the ditching as well as the subsequent NSTB investigation. The NTSB investigation originally stated that the computer and manned simulations showed that the crew could of made a safe return to either LaGuardia or Teterboro. You will have to watch the rest.... Good Watch, highly recommend Any aircrew comments ? |

I thought "Sully" was very authentic and entertaining as well Greg.
What I found interesting was the aggressive stance of the NTSB, not sure if this was real, or just Sully's perception, as he had to defend his decision. The actual ditching scene gave you a real sense of fear, and feeling of being there. From Sully's perspective, being judged on just 208 seconds, after a faultless lifetime flying career, would have been a hard concept to be faced with. Well worth watching. The film is based on the book "Highest Duty: My Search for What Really Matters" written by Chesley Sullenberger and Jeffrey Zaslow
It's worth a read if you are interested in more info. Flight 1549 was the last flight on a four-day shift where he had previously flown A321,A319 and the fateful A320. |

I found the highlight of "Sully" for me to be the realism of the flight and the landing on the Hudson. Up to just prior to touch down a real A320 would have been used but for the landing and outside evacuation scenes it was extremely authentic to the point of being the real thing. I couldn't pick any flaws in these scenes and looking online a real A320 on a stanchion was used. Not sure if a model was used for any of the actual hitting the water scenes.
The end of the story was a triumph and the whole film very good. In the session I attended, on the second night after commencing, there was applause at the end, which doesn't happen very often these days after a movie. Clint Eastwood has made a riveting film with an excellent cast, headed by Tom Hanks. Highly recommended, not only to the aviation geeks, like myself. |

The same thing happened in the session I saw, also on the second day of release. There was applause at the end, and while that surprised me I must say I joined in.

http://www.flightsafetyaustralia.com...ilver-tongues/ Of course no mention of their failure to pass quite a few audits of their own actions, a potential movie in itself, with both CASA failing an FAA audit in 2009 and the subsequent Pel Air debacle. Any government agency has the benefit of hindsight when it comes to such investigations, actions in the heat of the moment are a different thing altogether. |

Saw it today.
Excellent movie and so realistic. Best aviation movie I have seen for accuracy. Go and see it if you can and you will not be disappointed. Well done Sully and Crew |

In today's Daily Telegraph and on page 14 says PEOPLE APPLAUDING "SULLY": At the end of many sessions of SULLY, audiences are actually applauding the screen! This never happens, ask your friends, It's the surprise feel good movie of the year.
